RLSS Rookie Lifeguard is designed for young individuals who are taking their first steps into lifeguarding and water safety.
The RLSS UK National Lifesaving Academy awards are a suite of progressive awards that teach personal survival, first aid, CPR, rescue, and fitness skills to anyone aged 12 years and over.

Rookie Lifeguard

The Rookie Lifeguard provides a foundation in essential skills such as water rescue techniques, CPR, and first aid. This program is tailored to instil confidence and competence in young participants, preparing them for a lifelong appreciation of water safety.

The program is structured into various levels, each building on the previous one and progressively enhancing the participants' knowledge, abilities, and confidence in aquatic environments.

Bronze Award

The initial level, Bronze, serves as the foundation for RLSS Rookie Lifeguard candidates. Participants learn fundamental water safety principles, basic rescue techniques, and the importance of teamwork in emergency situations. This level establishes a solid base, preparing candidates for more advanced challenges in subsequent stages.

Silver Award

Moving on to the Silver level, candidates delve deeper into their lifeguarding journey. This stage introduces more advanced rescue techniques and places greater emphasis on personal survival skills. Participants also gain a better understanding of water hazards and how to assess and respond to potential dangers in aquatic settings.

Gold Award

The Gold level marks a significant milestone in the RLSS Rookie Lifeguard program. Candidates at this stage further refine their rescue abilities, including the use of rescue aids and techniques for managing more complex emergency scenarios. The Gold Award equips participants with a comprehensive set of skills, preparing them to take on increased responsibilities in water safety.

Classes run Sundays at 12:30pm to 1:30pm and is aimed at swimmers under 12 years old who can swim a minimum of 50 meters (2 lengths of our pool)
